They never consult any staff members before making changes. Administrative staff and upper management are completely tone deaf as to what is happening to the actual frontlines.

You will never be given positive acknowledgement for doing a good job. Critical events will occur and instead of management making sure you are okay, they will negatively criticize you and make you question your decisions. In my experience, if you took a gentler approach, recognizing that clients often aren’t - more.Īt the Alpha House you are a just number. However, there does seem to be a culture where yelling at clients in order to "stand up for yourself" is seen as the correct response. I want to be clear that many of the people working for Alpha House are good at their jobs and are there trying to make a positive impact. This presentation covered a lot of important information, like a recommendation to get a Hepatitis C vaccine and TB skin test before starting work. I did not receive an onboarding presentation until nearly three months into my position. The on-boarding for my position was not well executed. However, I believe that the way this organization is run is also a contributing factor.
